Entrance Fees of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park 2021: Entrance fees in the national park are fees paid by travellers in order to be allowed to access the park’s promises or to be able to engage in park’s activities, the fees is levied by the Uganda Wildlife Authority a body that is in charge of all Uganda National Parks. However, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is renowned as a home for the remaining half mountain gorillas in the world, positioned in south-western region on an area of about 321 square Kilometres and is listed on UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is approximately 8 to 9 hours’ drive from south of Uganda’s capital Kampala or also can be accessed by air transport by charter flights which are available from Entebbe Airport to Kihihi or Kisoro. The park can also be reached from Rwanda’s capital ‘’Kigali’’ which is only a 4 hours’ drive from Kigali International Airport. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the top visited safari destination in the entire world and it’s because of gorilla trekking which is an emotional experience. Other activities to be done include nature walk, bird watching, visiting the Batwa trails among others.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park’s entry fees for 2021 are charged basing on a traveller’s status and age, divided into different categories such as individual entrance fees for individual person, vehicle entrance fees, air crafts and can be paid separately from the park activities.
Individual park entrance fees
Foreign Non-residents are expected to pay USD40 for adult and USD20 for children in order to access Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.
Foreign Residents are expected to pay USD30 adult and USD10 for children to access the park
East African citizen are expected to UGX20,000 for adults and UGX 3000 for children as individual park entrance.
Note, children must be below 15 years of old.
Annual park entry fees /Charge
Annual park entry fees are applied to only members of East African community and the foreigner residents of Uganda. The fares are stipulated hence;
An individual a foreign resident entitled to pay USD350 while East African citizens pay UGX 150,000 as an annual pass to Bwindi.
A couple for foreign residents are entitled to pay USD500 and an East African couple entitled to pay UGX200,000 for an annual pass to the park.
A foreign resident family with a maximum of 4 children are entitled to pay USD700 while an East African family pays UGX300,000 as an annual fee to enter Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
An annual corporate fee to Bwindi for foreign residents is USD1500 and East African citizens are charged UGX 2,500,000millions.
Both a safari guide and taxi driver are entitled UGX 10,000 as annual park entry fees.
The tour company drivers they enter the park at no cost.
Note; Foreign residents must present in their valid working permits for at least a year to quality.
Park entrance fees for Vehicle
The vehicle entry fees are charged basing on the size, type of the car and the durations of time spent in the park as below;
Motorcycles with foreign registration entitled to pay USD30 while Ugandans registered are entitled to pay USD5.
Tour company vehicle which is 4WD vehicle with foreign registration entitled to pay USD150 while those with a Ugandan registration pay USD15 only.
Over Landers are entitled to pay USD150 per entry while those with Ugandan registration pay USD15 only.
Aircraft landing fees
At Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Aircraft landing fees are irrespective of the resident status and registration, landing fees to be paid by the passengers as seen below;
Up to 3 seater
Passengers are charged USD20 per landing in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
4-6 seater
Passengers who uses 4 to 6 seater are charged USD30 per landing in Bwindi impenetrable national park’
7-14 seater
Passenger who uses 7to 14 seater is charged USD40 to access the park.
15-20 seater
Passengers who uses 15-20 seaters pay USD 50 for entry landing fees
21 seaters and more are charged USD60 per landing fees.
Helicopters with foreign registration are charged to pay USD100 while Ugandans are charged USD125.
Parking fees are at UGX10,000 per day

Park entrance fees for vehicles and boats are paid per entry
Landing fees for aircrafts exclude park entry fees which are charged by passenger
Pilots en route, are not required to pay any fee provided they stay less than two hours in the park.
For a traveller to take part in gorilla trekking, must hold a gorilla permit at a fee of USD700 paid by Foreign Non-Residents, Foreign Residents are charged USD600 and UGX250,000 for East African Citizens. Note, it is advisable to book gorilla trekking permits in a period of six months in advance, one can decide to book up to two years in advance as well. The gorilla permits can be bought from Uganda Wildlife headquarters or through a recognised tour operator of your choice.
Other activities like nature walk experience cost USD30 for Foreign Non-Resident, USD15 for Foreign Residents while East African citizens pay UGX10,000.
The Batwa forest experience costs USD40 for both Foreign Residents and Foreign Non Residents while UGX40,000 for East African citizen while in Bwindi National Park.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be visited throughout the year and easily accessed by both road and air transport. The above listed fees are levied by the Uganda Wildlife Authority to protect the conservation facilitation.
