This safari can be done in all the three primate hosting nations in the region that is Rwanda, Uganda and the democratic republic of Congo. The safari can be done anytime of the year and the duration of each safari will depend on where you are having it. 1. Expect to trek and see both the mountain gorillas and the chimpanzees. Trekking is quite tiresome, uphill and downhill movement is not a piece cake so plan for the plan for the double trek physically and mentally.
  2. If you are having the safari in Rwanda or Uganda, expect some road trip time because these primate parks are not close to each other. In the democratic republic of Congo you may not such a huge road time.
  3. To pay two types of trekking permits. Since you are trekking the mountain gorillas and chimpanzees on the same trip, you will have to purchase both the mountain gorilla trekking permits and chimpanzee trekking permits. The permits allow you to access the primate habitat and to trek the primates. Each country has different prices for each trek; consult with your tour consultant for price details.
