Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Bwindi
- Arrival & Transfer to Bwindi: You will arrive at Kigali International Airport and one of our drive will be waiting for you at the airport to pick you and drive you to the Chanika border which is a nearby border crossing to Uganda. Please we advise the travelers to book a morning flight to Kigali as will have about 4 driving hours to access Bwindi. Arrive at the park in the Buhoma region since its where you will trek the following morning and check in to the lodge and have your meal. Accommodation Options: Buhoma safari lodge, Silverback Lodge, and Gorilla Valley Lodge
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking –Buhoma sector
- Gorilla Trekking: You will wake early in the morning have coffee tea and delicious snacks and you will be given packed lunch. Then your drive will pick you up from your lodge and drives you to the briefing point at exactly 7 am, brief you about rules concerning about gorillas and at 8 am meet the ranger to lead in the hike to habituated gorilla family in Buhoma sector, trekking through densely forested hills and as you experience the vegetation type, view other small primates, birds many more. Once you reach the gorillas, you are given one hour with them as you stand 7 meters away. Sincerely speaking this is a magical encounter where you get to learn about their behaviors as well as enjoying the photoshoot.
- Batwa Trails Experience: And after you will drive to the nearby local community of Batwa people and have nature walk around as you will be amazed at the traditional song, the storytelling of the Batwa trails, see the way they dress up among others. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking –Ruhija sector
- Second Gorilla Trekking: On your day 3, you will have the second day of gorilla trekking in a different location of the park, setting out once more to the briefing area after an early breakfast. Once gorillas are located with a limited number of 8 people per trek, you will be given one hour to watch them. This is the most memorable experience done in the entire world as a traveler having a face to face of these creatures. Then after drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Return to Kigali
- Return to Kigali: After early morning breakfast check out of the lodge and say bye bye to Uganda and proceed to Kigali International airport. Depending on your flight departure time, you can as well decide to visit the genocide memorial center before you depart Rwanda. Then after the drive will drop you off at Kigali International airport at your check-in time.
