What are safari breaks? Safari breaks are short periods of rest and relaxation during a safari, mostly during the drives to the safari destinations; but they can also be breaks during safari activities to refresh and rejuvenate before you take on the next adventure.
The breaks are different for all and for different reasons, the most common ones are rest breaks especially on the drive to stretch your legs, have a bathroom break, grab a snack or drink, and rest; meal breaks for eating especially done on the safari activity some times you can do it as a picnic on the activity; nature viewing breaks to take in the scenery and the wild life you are enjoying- done on trekking and hiking experiences majorly to take a break on the hike and enjoy the scenery and the wildlife. The best time to take the safari depends on various factors, like your plan for the day, the time of day, weather, wildlife activity, the people you are with among other things. If you are driving, you can take a break every 3 hours on the road depending on the person driving. On the a safari activity you can take a break depending on the activity, on a trek or hike, your energy levels determine, on a safari game drive morning breaks can be 10am for breakfast, 1 pm for lunch and 4 pm for an afternoon snack or tea; 4pm- 5pm is when you see the sunset and the most amazing boat rides are at that time.

Though breaks are very important, you should not take breaks during the heavy rainfall or during extreme heat waves unless where you are taking the break from is safe and recommended for the shelter. Also do not take breaks in the middle of the wild, you may become prey for the wildlife animals. Also do not take very long breaks especially if you are driving, it affects your time of arrival to your destination – so keep it between 15-30 mins. On a safari activity you can take a break as long as an hour or 2 depending on how your itinerary looks like.
That said you can also have a safari without breaks, the choice is yours and what makes you happy on your safari. But keep in mind that you can take a safari break always.
