Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to kahuzi biega.
Upon your arrival, your guide will meet at Kigali international airport and brief you about you coming Congo gorilla safaris. You will later drive to cyangugu, a town in Rwanda bordering Democratic Republic of Congo. Before reaching the border you will pass by Butare town Rwanda’s intellectual town filed with many institution, cultural and historical sites. Cross into DRC to a town called Bukavu there will check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day: lowland gorilla trekking.
Early in the morning after breakfast, you guide will drive to the headquarters of kahuzi biega national park, you be briefed on the dos and don’ts in the gorilla tracking activity, be assigned the group of gorillas to track from later move into the forest in search for eastern lowland gorilla. The lowland gorillas are a little bigger and more build than the mountain gorillas. Once you meet the lowland gorilla you will spend with then and hour interacting and taking photos with them.
Later reunite with you guide who will drive you to Virunga national park in the north the drive will be a scenic one, you will reach in the evening check in at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Virunga mountain gorilla tracking.
Early in the morning after breakfast, you guide will drive you to Virunga national park, you will be briefed on the rules while doing mountain gorilla tracking, be assigned arranger and a gorilla family to track from. Move to the forest searching for the gorillas it can take you couple of hours to find the specific family you have been tasked to track and once you meet them, you will be so thrilled but be aware that you are only allowed to spend 1 hour with them.
Later reunite with your guide who will drive you to Kigali in time for your flight. If time allows, he will take you for a brief Kigali city tour, viewing the genocide museums and visit local hand craft market here you can possible find souvenir to take home with you.
