Udzungwa Mountains National Park is located in the central region of Tanzania a and it was established as a national park in 1992 by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands who is known as the founder of worldwide fund covering a total surface of about 1,990 square kilometers. Udzungwa Mountains National Park is a wildlife sanctuary, which is situated between Iringa and Morogoro regions within the eastern Arc Mountains, and it is found in about 60 kilometers from the south of Mikumi National Park along the Mikumi ifakara road. More so, this national park is known to have been named after Wasungwa which is kihehe word  that means people who stay along the sides of the mountains and it is dominated by a good vegetation cover which consists of Miombo woodland, tropical rain forests, savannah grasslands, mountain forests which all act as good natural habitat to many wildlife species.

Udzungwa Mountains national park harbours around 400 bird species hence making it a favorite destination for bird lovers to visit due to the fact that they will be able to sight see at many birds like; marabou stork, green headed oriole, woodland king fisher, crowned eagle, ruppells vultures, silvery checked hornbill, crowned eagle, African hobby, white tailed cisticola, black and white shrike flycatcher, livingstone turaco, palm nut vulture, ulunguru violet backed sunbird, kilombero weaver, trumpeter hornbill, fork-tailed drongo, grey cuckoo shrike, green-backed woodpecker, dark baked weaver, retz helmet shrike among others.

Hiking.

Hiking is one of the commonly done activity within Udzungwa mountains national park because there are no roads where tourists can go for game drives, therefore hiking is seen as the best option because there are various trails that individuals can go through.
