Kasenyi Plains
Kasenyi Plains are part of the most visited national park in Uganda wildlife tours famously known as Queen Elizabeth National park which is located in Kasese district in the south western region of Uganda. The flat plain is about 48 kilometers by road from the southeast of Kasese town. The Kasenyi plains are an open savannah grassland area around Kazinga channel a freshwater that connects Lake George and Lake Edward of which lake George is at the shores of the western Rift valley and entirely with in Queen Elizabeth national park.
Kasenyi plains which are also known as the Kasenyi sector is majorly an open savannah grassland that harbors various wild animals and the most dominant one in here are the Uganda Kobs because the Uganda kobs they like breeding in plain areas yet lions are very rare in Kasenyi plains. They can be frequently viewed here by tourists when they are enjoying Queen Elizabeth game drives. To note the Uganda kobs are the main prey to the kings of jungle ‘’lions’’ in the park. Though lions in the park during those ancient years they were rare to be seen but now the number is increasing making a total of 200 cats and are commonly seen in the vast green plain.
However, Kasenyi plains are commonly known as a home for wild animals yet it also supports a beautiful variety of savannah birds such as Yellow-throated long crow, grey crown cranes and red throat spur flow and many more. Interestingly, most activities that are encountered on Uganda Wildlife Tours in Queen Elizabeth National Park are undertaken in Kasenyi plains due to the fact that lots of mammals are found within here, because of being an open grassland /plains which are loved by a large number of wildlife species.

Within this plain, there is a lot of chance to see lions capturing their prey. The Kasenyi plains also consist of the Kazinga channel where one can enjoy taking a boat cruise at noon and come close with water animals such as hippos and crocodiles. The cruise can take for at least 2hours, and you can as well have great sightseeing of elephants playing and bathing in water.
To note, the major wildlife safaris in Uganda are recommended here because lions are clearly viewed in the plain grassland while on a guided game drive. Travelers can also gain in seeing the big cats of the jungle on a hunt for a day’s meal of the Uganda kob because this is there favorite food and you can as well have a great view of kobs mating in the grounds.

Kasenyi fishing village also acts as an attraction around Queen that brings you muse when you visit the park, the culture of the fishermen is another interesting thing to every visitor that visits Queen Elizabeth National park. You can also enjoy the African taste of fresh fish snacks at kasenyi fishing village located just close to the park.
Kasenyi plains also host the Kasenyi airport located at kasenyi next to the park which acts as the fastest means of transport to the park and around here there is a possibility of seeing lots of mammals clearer such as warthogs, Buffaloes, Uganda kobs among others.
Accessibility: Since Kasenyi plains is located within Queen Elizabeth National Park which is found in the western region of Uganda and Kasenyi plain sits in the northeastern part of the park also known as Mweya or Kasenyi sector. The park can be easily accessed from Kampala Uganda’s capital city by road within 5 to 6 hours. Alternatively, a traveler can decide to fly to and from Entebbe International Airport using a charter flight to Kasenyi Airstrip which can last for only 1:15 hours by Air.
