Detailed itinerary of 6 Days Rwanda Primates Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali City, Rwanda
On arrival at Kigali International Airport for your 6 Days Rwanda Primate Safari, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide for pick up and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrive time, you go for a Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kandt Museum and the Craft Market.
Return to your lodge for hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will meet your guide and embark on a journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park, located in southern Rwanda. The drive to journey involves stopovers in Nyanza for a visit to the Kings Palace Museum and in Huye to tour the ethnographic museum.
Arrive in Nyungwe Forest National Park in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk
Today is for an intimate encounter with the playful chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest National Park. After breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking conducted by a senior ranger guide. You will either be at the Uwinka Trail head or the Cyamudongo Trail head, the guide will share chimpanzee trekking tips for you while in the forest.
Head to the starting point, enter into forests looking for chimpanzees. The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours depending on the movement of chimpanzees which are more mobile. Along the trek you will hear their grunts and sounds and once you locate them, you will be allowed one hour of being in their presence, watch them play with each other, jump from one tree branch and other take amazing photos. After the amazing experience, trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your guide and return to the lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon you will go for the canopy walk trail which starts from the Uwinka Trail head. During the walk you will enjoy the spectacular views of the Nyungwe Forest Canopy and see several primates including black and white colobus monkeys among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Colobus Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, return to Nyungwe Forest National Park for Chimpanzee monkey tracking. Just like chimpanzee trekking, you will have a briefing session from a head guide and later venture into the forest looking for chimpanzees.
You are allowed only one hour of watching the Colobus monkeys as they play, feed and groom each other. After this amazing experience, you will depart for Volcanoes National Park on a journey filled with amazing views of the Virunga Region, enjoy views of the winding roads and scenery of a thousand hills while drive along the shores of Lake Kivu. Arrive at your lodge in the evening, check in at your lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing conducted by a senior ranger guide. You will be assigned a gorilla family to trek in groups of 8 people and drive to the starting point, venture into the forest looking for the endangered mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night, once you locate these great apes, you will spend one hour watching them play from one tree to another, groom each, play, feed and take amazing photos.
Return to the lodge for lunch and short relaxation, in the afternoon you will go for a visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village formerly known as “Ib’iwacu Village” where you will learn about Rwanda traditions and culture in depth. Be entertained by local dances and drama, visit the medicine man, interact with the elders and take part in preparing local dishes and taste some of them.

Day 6: Departure
Wake up at your leisure, have breakfast and later check out. Embark on a journey back to Kigali City where you will be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight back home.
