7 Day Best of Rwanda Safaris
This 7 Day best of Rwanda safaris consists of the akagera wildlife safari, kigali city tour, chimpanzee trekking at Nyungwe forest national park, gorilla trekking at volcanoes national park.
Day 1:Arrival and transfer to Akagera National Park.
Upon your arrival on a Rwanda safari, your guide will pick you from the airport have a brief tour of Kigali city explore the sites such as the Gisozi genocide memorial and have lunch in the local restaurants making it possible for you to have a taste of the local cuisine, later transfer to Akagera national park north east of the country bordering Tanzania arrive in the evening and check at your hotel and have a feel of the wilderness surrounding, have dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Have a game drive in the park and boat cruise on Lake Ihema.
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head straight to the car and set off for the first exciting wilderness activity i.e. game drive while in the field, you will be able to view lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, leopards, hartebeests, antelopes and several other mammals and bird species while in the game drive, you will also able to enjoy a beautiful view of the savannah grassland and the marine vegetation. Later return to your lodge for lunch and a brief break. Later after lunch embark on a scenic boat cruise on Lake Ihema, viewing water animal such as the crocodiles resting on the shores, explore the beautiful island on the lake. Later retire to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Kigali
Wake to the beautiful sounds of the chapping birds in the park exuding wilderness environment. Have a relaxed breakfast and later embark on another journey to Kigali city while in the city, you will take tours of the local craft market grab your self some souvenirs, have lunch in the local restaurants and later drive south west to visit the national museum and get insights on the Rwanda history events. Later check in at your hotel for relaxation dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: chimpanzee tracking.
Wake up at early in the same exciting spirit of the a safari have cup of coffee/ breakfast later head with your guide to the tourism office for registration, receive briefing and dos and don’ts concerning chimpanzee tracking later proceed to the thick Nyungwe forest with about three canopies. The forest is endowed with several plants and animal species, primates such as monkeys that you will come across while searching for the chimpanzees one you meet the chimpanzees, you will interact with them, take photos/ selfies , you will spend a maximum of 5 hours in the forest and later head back to the base station for lunch. Later after lunch have a canopy walk several meters above the ground having a birds eye view of the forest. Retire to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay
Day 5: Transfer to Kibuye – Gisenyi (lake kivu).
Enjoy the morning sleep and have the feel of the Rwanda safaris. Have late breakfast and check out of your lodge and take a tours of Bugorama hot springs and if interested you can take a bath with water from the hot springs having it rich in minerals that can cure ailments hence making it a unique Rwanda tour experience. Have lunch at kibuye before taking a breathtaking boat cruise on Lake Kivu to view of the beautiful islands later transfer to Gisenyi town close to volcanoes national park check it at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: gorilla trekking/ Rwanda gorilla tracking tour
Rwanda gorilla tours is the top adventure activity one can carry out while on Rwanda safaris and on the continent at large have breakfast and head to the park headquarters there you will have another cup of coffee as the local cultural music will be performed by the local people, be briefed about the dos and don’ts involved in gorilla tracking, be assigned ranger guide and family of gorillas to track from. Move to the forest in search for the huge primates the experiences of the forest is a breathtaking one, as you will come across the other small animals such as the duikers, move through several plant species . once you meet the gorillas, you will be given a maximum of 1 hours to spend with them, take selfies/ photos as you interact with them and later descend back to the park headquarter and head for lunch at your lodge, later after lunch you will go for a guided community walk to the local community seeing their way of life later return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: transfer to the airport.
Wake up to a relaxed breakfast freshen up from the previous day gorilla trekking activity, bearing in your mind that you are winding up your stay in Rwanda, watch the sun rise on the volcanic mountain and listen to the chapping g sounds of the birds in the area. Later board the vehicle and head to Kigali in time for your departure flight.
