13 Days Uganda Budget Safari

Day 1: Rhino trekking – Murchison falls national park

On day one of the 13 Days Uganda Budget Safari, you will be picked up in the morning after breakfast and you will connect to Ziwa rhino sanctuary for Rhino trekking. This will be a 2-3 hours’ drive from Murchison falls national park. After the Rhino trekking, drive to Murchison falls national park the biggest park in Uganda. You will then proceed to the top of the falls where you will have some nice sightseeing. Later go to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise – Murchison Falls

On day two of the 13 Days Uganda Budget Safari, have breakfast and go for a game drive safari. On this safari, you will see various animal species like elephants, giraffes, lions, Uganda kobs among others. Later at 2 pm, you will go for a launch cruise on the Murchison Falls as well as the River Nile. During this boat cruise, stream hippos and serried ranges of crocodiles along the sandbanks. Also, see large numbers of different species of wildlife getting down to drink & bathe. Later on, head to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Day 3 is another amazing day where you will have an early breakfast and then enjoy a ride to Kibale forest national park. You will have lunch en-route in Fort portal town. You will then go ahead to visit Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru stalagmites site and crater lakes around Kibale National Park. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening, have dinner and enjoy your night stay. 

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking- Kibale forest

Day 4 is an amazing one filled with fun. Wake up early morning and go to the park headquarters where they will brief you about the chimpanzee trekking activity. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee trekking.  After the trekking, you will go for a nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Later on, transfer back to your lodge for resting and dinner.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Wake up early morning and have breakfast after which you will be taken to Queen Elizabeth National Park another fun-packed destination with a wide variety of wildlife. Transfer direct to the lodge and enjoy your lunch as you unwind at your lodge. Later on, embark on a brief evening game drive. Later on, go back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6: Game drive and launch cruise- Queen Elizabeth National Park

After early morning breakfast, go for an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector where you may see various animals like the elephants, Uganda kobs, leopards among others. Return to the lodge for late breakfast, in the afternoon you will go for a launch cruise where you will spot various water animals like Hippos and crocodiles, the cruise will also enrich you with various water birds. Dinner and overnight as above

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi – Kisoro area

After breakfast, set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and pass through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park where you may see some tree climbing lions. You will have lunch en-route, arriving in Bwindi in the afternoon. Have dinner and sleep over at your lodge.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking – Bwindi

Wake up early Morning and have breakfast. After that drive to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by the rangers about the gorilla trekking experience. The trekking can take from 4-6 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas, therefore, you will start your trek with packed lunch. Trek, find the gorillas, spend one hour with them observing and taking photos and after enjoy your packed lunch. After trekking, meet your driver and transfer to Kisoro town. Later go to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 9: Golden monkeys tracking – Mgahinga National Park

Wake up early and have breakfast on this day of the 13 Days Uganda Budget Safari. Later on head to the park headquarters for golden monkey tracking. It starts at 7 am taking about 2-5 hours tracking and on finding them, spend an hour with them before you return to meet your driver. Have lunch then transfer to back to your lodge for relaxation.

Day 10: Gorge Walk – Mgahinga National Park & Lake Bunyonyi

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a guided nature walk hiking into Mgahinga National Park. A hike through the forest to the deep Sabinyo Gorge – a massive gash in the flank of Mount Sabinyo – provides good birding opportunities and the chance to find the Rwenzori Turaco.

This walk takes four hours and passes through the Rugezi Swamp which is fantastic for bird watchers on a Budget Uganda safari. The walk to the Congo border transcends different vegetation zones. Hikers can sight the calderas on top of the Gisozi hill, look out for Kisoro and Bunagana towns and be captivated by Lake Mutanda.

Later return and transfer to Lake Lake Bunyonyi with lunch en-route. Take a boat cruise along Lake Bunyonyi visiting the various islands and interacting with the locals. 

Option 2; Volcano Hiking – Mgahinga national park

All three volcanoes in this park can be summited. Mt. Sabinyo, at 3,669m, takes about eight hours to cover the 14km round trip, following a steep ridge up to the peak. It takes around six hours to ascend and descend Mt. Gahinga (3,474m), topped by a swamp-filled crater and giant lobelia. Lucky climbers may spot golden monkeys on their way through the bamboo forest.

Mt. Muhavura is the highest peak at 4,127m, and this 12km round trip takes around eight hours. Once at the top, hikers are rewarded on a clear day with views of the Virunga Volcanoes, Lake Edward, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the peaks of the Rwenzoris. Return to Traveler’s Rest Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

You will enjoy your morning breakfast and if you missed the boat, do the canoe then transfer to Lake Mburo national park with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch and also visit Igongo cultural center and learn about the Ankole culture. 

Day 12: Game drive and afternoon boat

Go for an early morning game drive; the park is home to herds of Impala, as well as the more uncommon Topi, Eland, and Klipspringer. Burchell’s Zebra and buffalo also graze these areas. Return to the lodge for late breakfast and lunch, and then do a boat cruise in the afternoon where you will see hippos and different bird species. Return to lodge as above

Day 13: Transfer to Entebbe/Departure

Breakfast early morning then drive out of the park to connect to drive back to Kampala with en route lunch and visit of the Equator. Proceed to Entebbe and depending on your flight, you will either be dropped at your own booked hotel or proceed to the airport for your onward flight back home. End of tour
