The best options are to pass through Musaze route or flying in direct landing at Kigali International Airport. Flying from Entebbe Airport to Kigali International Airport takes few hours which are about only 1 hour and 10 minutes and yet driving can take 10 hours by road from Entebbe passing via Kibale–Mbarara road and connecting to Musaze route to the park. Getting to Volcanoes National Park

Volcanoes park is located in the northwestern direction of Rwanda covering area of 160 square kilometres in the Musaze district. The park is bordered by Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo. It was established in 1925 making it be among the first gazette national parks in Africa to protect the endangered mountain gorillas and other wild animals. The park headquarters is based in Kinigi and reporting for an activity you must be there at 7 am in the morning.

The only way of getting to Volcanoes national park is by means of Road transport and there is no scheduled domestic flight which travels to the park. By road: When a traveller lands to Kigali International Airport there is a possibility of driving to the park which takes 2 hours only to reach the park.

Documents required to start visitor’s arrangements of getting to Volcanoes Park include: photocopy of the travellers’ Passports and Visas.

Public means of transport are only available from Kigali city, Kigali Airport, or Gisenyi to Musanze town which is the nearest to the park and the Musaze route is easiest way to access to the park.

To note: For all the activities done in the park, you’re requested to arrive in time at Kinigi Park headquarter for a short briefing. Volcanoes national park is trekked on foot through gorilla trekking due to the small size of the park and also to the short driving distance-time whether from Kigali town, Kigali international Airport by road to the park.
