Uganda national museum

The oldest museum in East Africa. The Uganda museum is located in Kampala and has a number of ancient pieces that take you back to history. The pieces include natural ancient samples, musical instruments and archeological remains, hunting equipment etc.

You can visit this museum any day of the week, its open 8am to 6pm. The entrance fees to this site vary for citizens and foreigners.

The Uganda Museum

Kasubi tombs

The biggest royal tombs in Africa and Uganda, the tombs are found at the Kasubi hill along homia road. The tombs are a final resting place for Buganda Kingdom kings from mutesa 1,chwa daudi, mutesa 11 and mwanga. The tombs are also final resting places for members of the Buganda royal family. In 2001 the tombs were name a UNESCO world heritage site.

As of 2022 the tombs have been restored to their original state after suffering a fire in 2010. The tombs can be visited any day of the week but you have to make an appointment through the reservations office or through your tour operator.

The reservations office and your tour operator will communicate the entrance fees.

Uganda martyrs shrine namugongo

The Roman Catholic shrine where the famous Uganda martyrs were killed in 1886; is one of the monumental religious sites in Uganda. Though open to the public all year round and can be visited any time in the day. This shrine is more popular during the 3rd June celebrations. The 3rd June celebrations are events carried out by the Roman Catholic Church to commemorate the martyring of over 25 martyrs that died for their faith in Christ, Top tourist sites in Uganda.

Gaddaffi national mosque

One of the biggest mosques in the region sitting 5000 worshippers at a time, is a site to see for most. A visit to the mosque will help you appreciate the beauty of design. This mosque is open to visitors all year round but can only be visited at specific times. So you need to consult with your tour operator or the reservations office for details.

Bahai temple

Uganda houses the only temple of the bahai faith in the whole of Africa and this attracts over many followers of the bahai faith worldwide, and its quiet atmosphere makes it more conducive for prayers and meditation. Any person of any region can visit temple at any time of the day.
