Queen Elizabeth National Park is situated in the south western region of Uganda a second largest national park in Uganda which estimates 1978 square kilometers of its low land and approximately 400 kilometers from Kampala City by road and it was renamed Queen Elizabeth national park after the visiting of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd in Uganda. The park is a home of 95 mammal species, over 500 bird species, number of crake crates, vegetation, plants and many more. The park is famously visited because of the rare tree-climbing lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, waterbuck, warthog’s antelopes like Uganda kobs, topis, sitatunga and many others.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth

  • Transfer to Queen: After morning breakfast our guide will pick you up at 6:30 am from your hotel in Kampala the capital city of Uganda to drive you to Queen but the guide /driver will first take you through a short briefing about the 4 days’ tour in Queen after you will start your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park using Mbarara high way to south western region of Uganda.
  • Equator Experience: As we head to Queen Elizabeth national you will have a stopover at Uganda Equator to take photographs, as you view the longitude at 0 degrees Celsius from the northern hemisphere to Southern hemisphere.
  • Game Drive: After we proceed to Mbarara town to have lunch and then drive directly to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arrive at the park you check in to the lodge you’re likely to sleep in and after embark for evening game drive accompanied by an armed guide using 4×4 wheel safari vehicle. The game drive that you will enjoy will be conducted in Ishasha sector which is located southern part of the park. You will be able to see the remarkable tree-climbing lions plus other mammals like buffaloes, warthog, Uganda kobs, waterbucks and many more, you can also spot out some beautiful bird species around. Return back to the lodge have dinner and overnight. Day 2: Morning game drive 

  • Game Drive: You will wake up early have breakfast served with eats as you get ready for morning game drive viewing to look for the hidden animals that we missed in the evening game drive and your driver will pick you at the lodge to embark for your morning drive accompanied by a professional guide with a 4WD safari vehicle. The morning game drive usually starts at 6:30 am or at exactly 7 am being conducted in an open savannah grassland of Kasenyi plains in Queen. While you are enjoying your game drive viewing in Kasenyi plains expect to see the diversity of mammals along here such as herds of elephants crossing the road, buffaloes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs and many more. Return to the lodge has lunch as you prepare for an evening boat cruise.
  • Boat Cruise: You will proceed for a boat cruise along kazinga channel, a channel that connects with lake Edward and lake George, boat cruise at Kazinga channel starts at 2 pm. As you enjoy your boat cruise on the kazinga channel you will have clear sightseeing of water animals like crocodiles, hippos, view animals on banks of water while drinking water such animals include elephants, buffaloes waterbucks among others. Come back to the lodge rest, have dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking

  • Chimpanzee Trekking Experience: You will wake up have to breakfast our guide will pick you up from the lodge you spent in your night, drives to the park headquarter with your packed lunch. They will first brief you about the rules followed while doing the chimpanzee trekking activity. After an experienced ranger will lead you to Kyambura gorge to their nature inhabitant, as your tracking you will have great chance of sightseeing other primates like red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys, black and white monkeys, spot out various bird species, vegetation and many more. Once Chimpanzees are being allocated you will be given one hour to watch them as they play around, feeding their young ones, swing on the tree branches as well as enjoying your photography’s with them but flash disc cameras are not allowed to be used when you’re with chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking takes as few as 2 to 8 hours tracking that’s why we recommend you to go with your packed lunch. After return to the lodge rest, have dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Do Community walk /Return to Kampala

  • Community Walk: After early morning breakfast served with delicious donuts you will embark for community walk accompanied by experienced local guide fluent in English who will lead you in the community tour which will involve in visiting the landing site, the fish preserved stoves, learn about traditional canoe making demonstration, have a chance to sightsee women making crafts, have rewardable view of the community, walk around some of the crater lakes in Queen get close to hippos and many more. At around 12:30 you return to the lodge have lunch and check out.
  • Return to Kampala: Depart to Kampala to be dropped at your hotel in Kampala the city of seven hills or at Entebbe Airport to catch up with your flight.
